Making Christmas Ornaments
We started by making salt dough. We mixed 1 cup of salt, 1 cup of flour, 1/2 cup f water and a little bit of oil. The children loved the process of mixing the ingredients. They tried to taste the dough, which was "salty". They also kept saying that their hands were "sticky". Then I helped them to roll it into a ball.
We rolled it out with a rolling pin. We cut out stars, hearts and gingerbread men with cookie cutters. I used a thin straw to make holes in our ornaments before baking them. Then we put them on grease-proof paper at 100 degrees C (about 200 F) for 2 hours.
Next day the children enjoyed painting the Christmas ornaments with their favorite colors. Later we put them on a string and decorated our classroom.
